Imagine this:
You are a ship out at sea, charting your course toward an unknown destination.
The ship, built with purpose, is fulfilling its destiny by sailing, navigating the waters, and moving forward.
This ship is you. Your destination is the end of this lifetime, and clarity serves as your compass, guiding you through the journey.
At this moment in your life, you're on a specific trajectory—a particular route.
This route reflects your current life experience, influenced by the decisions you've made, the actions you've taken, and the mindset you've cultivated.
As in life, the sea can be unpredictable.
Storms may arise, and waves may crash against your structure, leaving you disoriented and lost.
Yet, despite the challenges, you keep going, resilient as ever.
But what if you don't like the route your trajectory is taking you on?
What if the journey you're on doesn't align with the view you want to see or the experiences you desire?
The good news is, you can decide to alter your trajectory starting today.
The Power of the Present Moment
What if I told you that everything you've been desiring is not somewhere in the distant future, but right here, right now?
When it comes to your life satisfaction, career, or business, it is happening in this very moment.
While there’s little we can control in life, we can control ourselves—our mindset, our self-belief, our thoughts, and our actions. From this place of control, a more fulfilling, joyful, purpose-led life is possible for every woman who chooses to do the inner work.
A common mistake many women make is believing that their desires or visions are far away in the future. They put everyone else’s needs above their own, never giving their ambition a chance to play out or their dreams a chance to materialize. This leaves you in a perpetual cycle of lack and scarcity, where nothing feels like it’s enough and the future vision remains in a far-off, imaginary place.
The Conversation with Your Future Self
Where you are now is a direct reflection of your past actions and decisions—both the good and the not-so-great ones.
Your life 5 to 10 years from now will be a direct reflection of your present, of the actions and decisions you make today. In essence, you are in a continuous conversation with your future self.
The future vision you desperately want is happening and unfolding right now.
Plug into the knowledge that today is the beginning of everything.
Every day you wake up is an opportunity to choose your future experience.
How does that make you feel?
Does it bring up feelings of responsibility?
Does it drive you to wake up every morning with a renewed sense of purpose?
Or does it make you want to shrink back and hide?
Whatever your response, observe it without judgment.
Expanding Into Your Future Vision
What if, instead of shrinking under the weight of this knowledge, you expanded?
What if you started to see opportunities to steward your life, health, relationships, and work in a different way starting today?
Close your eyes and let this sink in. Let the knowledge that you are in the process of creating your future right now activate you. Let it open the eyes of your imagination and connect you to a new level of devotion to your personal life vision.
Lessons from the Ship Analogy
1. You are the ship.
You are in control of your journey, your destination, and the choices you make along the way.
2. Clarity is the compass.
Clarity, in this context, means knowing your values, passions, and purpose. These are your guides to a joyful, fulfilled life.
3. Your future vision is the route you want to take.
What do you want your life to look like? Your future vision should be highly specific to what you want, based on your unique values and desires.
4. Aligned action is the fuel for your ship.
Aligned actions are the intentional and purposeful steps you take daily, weekly, and monthly to bring your future vision into reality.
When I work with my clients, getting clear on and activating their future vision is vital. All other actions and processes line up with it! It’s a sacred process of tapping into your desires, passions, and values, which I believe are also in line with your divine purpose.
The balance lies in living in the present while working toward a desired future vision. If you cannot enjoy the present moment now, how will you enjoy the future vision when you get there?
Cultivate the muscles of presence, and let your journey be one of both enjoying the now and moving toward the life you envision.
